How to Get Fit at Home

I have a confession: I don’t have a gym membership.

In fact, I haven’t for over a year now. Initially it was because I was travelling and moving countries and wasn’t in a place long enough to get one, then it was because I didn’t have a lot of extra funds to spend on one.

But now it’s because I’ve figured out how to be fit without one. It helps that I’m a runner, and that covering 80-100 km per week keeps you pretty fit. But over the last little while I’ve focused on other fitness (i.e. more than just cardio), and figured out that I am doing just fine without the monthly $200 expense.

Need help falling sleep? Is there a lot of stress weighing you down, whether from life or work? Don’t worry. There’s a yoga solution for that. Even if you’re a complete beginner the moves being listed below are sure to help you feel less stressed, and possibly help you with sleep.

Here are 5 yoga poses to help you wind down and relax: 

Child’s Pose

The most basic of yoga poses, and yet, child’s pose does wonders. If you’re not sure how to get into child’s pose - simply get on your hands and knees, relax your body down onto your thighs, rest your forehead onto the mat, and either place your arms out in front of you (straight forward) or have them reaching behind you for some shoulder release. In general, child’s pose is perfect to do in between challenging yoga poses and is a great stretch for your spine. It opens the hips and your back, and is sure to help with calming any stress you have and prepping you for a nice evening or deep sleep.

How to Choose The Right Workout Shoes

Changing our lifestyles not only causes us to accept the fact that 50% of the time, we’ll be covered in sweat from working out so much, but it also causes us to buy proper athletic wear. Mainly footwear. Having proper protection, comfort, and performance from our footwear is extremely important.

How does one decide on which footwear to choose from? Think some things through. First off, are you planning on doing a lot of running and jogging, or are you going to be doing more aerobics, weight training, and kickboxing workouts? That plays a big role in which shoes to pick. Other information to be aware of is the type of foot you have. Wearing the wrong type of shoe can cause us serious pain in out knees, and can cause early arthritis.

3 Yoga Poses Easy to do at Work or School to Help Your Posture

Sitting at a desk every day from 9 to 5 can become very tiring and cramped. It’s been proven that sitting at a desk for so many hours is unhealthy – it causes bad posture, stiff muscles, and more. Current studies are also showing that long periods of sitting can lead to obesity and cause other high-risk diseases like diabetes or cardiovascular issues!

Not only is that enough to stress you out while at work, but the actual work you’re doing at times can also cause high amounts of stress. The side effects that come along with stress are not healthy, so overall, our health is at risk the more we put our body through this.

There are ways around that. If you don’t feel comfortable doing yoga at your desk, at least set aside 15 minutes to do other movements – like walking, stretching, or other little things to get your body active.
